The Technical Communication faculty in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts on the Polytechnic Campus at Arizona State University invites applications for two Instructors for the 2018-2019 academic year. Successful candidates will teach a range of Technical Communication courses, including courses focused on helping engineering students develop critical inquiry and communication abilities needed for academic and professional success. Course assignments are predominantly at the undergraduate level, and may occur in a variety of modalities (online, on-ground, hybrid), including courses on the Polytechnic campus. The course load is determined by the faculty head and typically consists of five classes per semester. These are full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible positions renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Required Qualifications:

  *   Master's degree in Technical Communication or related field at time of appointment
  *   Evidence of post-secondary teaching effectiveness in Technical Communication or related area
  *   Excellent English written and spoken communication skills
  *   Ability to teach a variety of technical communication courses
  *   Stated commitment to meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities

Desired Qualifications:
Terminal degree in Technical Communication or related field at time of appointment
Academic background or professional experience in engineering or in working with engineers
Expertise with social media, web design/authoring, or content creation and management
Familiarity with industry-standard tools (e.g. Adobe CC, CMS, Madcap Flare, HTML/XML/CSS)
Experience working with first-year college students
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Experience teaching online courses
