Associate Professor


The University of Central Florida (UCF) Department of English is hiring two, nine-month regular, tenure-earning assistant professors of Technical Communication. The anticipated start date is August 2019.


The positions entail a 3/2 teaching load consisting of both face-to-face and online classes at the master’s and undergraduate levels, as well as the potential to teach in UCF’s interdisciplinary Texts and Technology Ph.D. Program. The successful candidates will be expected to maintain a productive research program and to participate in service activities to support the department, college, and university.



Position Minimum Requirements  A Ph.D. in English, Technical Communication, or a relevant field from an accredited institution by time of appointment and successful teaching experience at the university level.



Preferences Strong record of publication, experience teaching technical communication, and experience in online instruction. Additionally, we prefer scholars with a strong interest in: user experience design or participatory design; plain language; applied health and medical communication; social justice and ethical issues in technical communication; emerging media (i.e., electronic media strategy, social media communication, and digital communication); or other applied areas of technical communication research.
