*Assistant Professor of English, Technical Communication (Tenure
Track)Position Overview*The Technical Communication program at Boise State
University seeks qualified applicants to apply for a full-time,
tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank. The ideal applicant
must demonstrate student-centered expertise in the classroom; willingness
to contribute to department, university, or community-based service; and
potential for excellence in their field of research. We are also especially
interested in candidates with professional experience in technical
communication; candidates with interest in or expertise in teaching online;
and those who can show a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and
inclusive excellence in teaching in research. Applicants must hold a Ph.D.
in Technical Communication or related field. (ABD will be considered, as
long as your degree is completed by August 15, 2019.) The position will
begin in August 2019.


*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*Specifically, we seek candidates
with experience and expertise in one or more of these areas:


   - Usability, user experience, and interaction design
   - Accessibility
   - Editing
   - Coding and tools (e.g., HTML/CSS, Python, Ruby, XML/DITA)
   - Content strategy and social media
   - Information design

The successful candidate will teach in our undergraduate Writing, Rhetoric,
and Technical Communication program and our graduate M.A. in Technical
Communication program. They will advise students, participate in
masters-level committees, maintain active and promising scholarly activity,
deliver engaging and student-focused teaching, and participate in an amount
of service deemed appropriate for junior tenure-track faculty.

We highly value professional expertise, as well as engagement with the
campus and local communities. Many of our courses traditionally involve
community-based or service-learning projects; a demonstrated ability or
willingness to provide our students with such opportunities is a plus.
Candidates with expertise in client relations, project management, or
entrepreneurship, as well as those with a professional background in
technical communication are encouraged to apply.
