*Lecturer in Technical Communication*

The Interdisciplinary Humanities and Communication faculty in the College
of Integrative Sciences and Arts on the Polytechnic Campus at Arizona State
University invites applications for a Lecturer for the 2020-2021 academic
year. The successful candidate will provide instruction in the areas of
engineering communication, intellectual property, data visualization,
and/or user experience at Arizona State University. The successful
candidate will have the ability to contribute to one or more of the areas
of the Technical Communication program. The program partners with the
Fulton Schools of Engineering to teach first-year students necessary
engineering communication skills. Our program has an established focus on
user experience, and a growing focus on the history of and contemporary
aspects of intellectual property. We participate in the LEAD program for
cohorts of first year students who are developing the cognitive skills
needed to succeed at ASU and in the professional world, contributing a
course on data visualization.

Course assignments are at the undergraduate and graduate levels and may
occur in a variety of modalities (online, on-ground, hybrid), on the
Polytechnic campus. The course load is determined by the faculty head and
typically consists of four classes per semester. The successful candidate
will also be expected to participate in service to the institution and
profession as appropriate. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible,
non-tenure eligible position renewable on an academic year basis contingent
upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of
the university. Salary is competitive commensurate with experience.
Candidate must reside in Arizona, or be willing to relocate.

The technical communication program is home to vibrant and innovative
scholars, teachers, and students. We value the freedom to work
interdisciplinarily with faculty throughout the university in a wide range
of research areas that help advance the knowledge of students and
practitioners and improve the lives of users. We value the intellectual
collaborations we have cultivated with other units at ASU, including the
School of Sustainability, Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation,
WP Carey School of Business, and the Fulton School of Engineering, with
whom we co-administer an MS in User Experience. The technical communication
program houses the CRUX lab, where faculty and students engage in impactful
communication and UX research using state-of-the-art resources, such as a
Tobii eyetracking system. In addition to our MS in UX, we currently offer
an MS, BS, minor, and graduate certificate in Technical Communication. To
