Scholarships Available!

This year, the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing (ATTW) is
offering two research events at the 2020 conference aimed at improving the
research knowledge and infrastructure in the field of technical
communication.

*Research Methods Workshop*

The first is a Research Methods Workshop facilitated by Katrina Powell
(Virginia Tech): “Building Alternative Archives: Opportunities and
Disruptions in Archival Methods”

As in prior years, this Research Methods Workshop is aimed at providing an
opportunity for those entering the profession and those less trained in
research to develop more sophisticated research skills. More information
about this workshop can be found at
https://www.dropbox.com/s/f98attcbfnp9exp/2020Workshop.docx?dl=0.

*Research Conclave*

The second is a new ATTW initiative, a Research Conclave aimed at making a
significant improvement to the research infrastructure of ATTW and
important contributions to the field of technical communication generally.

The 2020 Research Conclave, focused on “Designing a Reference Corpus for
Technical Communication," will be facilitated by Jason Swarts (North
Carolina State University) and Bill Hart-Davidson (Michigan State
University), with assistance from Bradley Dilger, past ATTW Information
Officer and current Co-PI of the Corpus & Repository of Writing (Crow)
Project at Purdue University. More information about the conclave can be
found at https://www.dropbox.com/s/4yuepsjjz9nnbzu/2020Conclave.docx?dl=0

These half-day events will be held in Milwaukee on Tuesday afternoon, March
24, 1:30-5:30. This is the first day of the ATTW conference (March 24-25)
and the day before the CCCC conference (March 25-28).

Five scholarships of $200 each are available to graduate students to defray
the cost of attending. Participation in these events is awarded on a
competitive basis and constitutes a place on the ATTW program.

To apply for a place in one of these events, complete the application form
found at https://forms.gle/8Di2DhH11NZNcaby5

*Applications are due January 15, 2020* and acceptances will be emailed by
