Hello friends,

I would be grateful if you would take this 6-minute survey (
https://usu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_aYmhc2iw93C4lKZ). Here's the
formal announcement:

You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Cana Uluak
Itchuaqiyaq, a PhD student in the Technical Communication and Rhetoric
program at Utah State University, and her dissertation adviser, Dr. Rebecca
Walton, an associate professor in the Department of English at Utah State
University (IRB #10559). The purpose of this research is gather demographic
data about scholars in technical communication and related fields. This
data will be used to create a definition of “multiply marginalized and
underrepresented” and to create a comprehensive list of scholars in
technical communication and related fields who self-identify as multiply
marginalized and underrepresented (MMU).

Technical communication scholars Rebecca Walton, Kristen Moore, and Natasha
Jones developed and published an initial version of a MMU list in their
2019 book, Technical Communication After the Social Justice Turn: Building
Coalitions for Action. The purpose of this survey is to expand their list
and add institutional and publication information.

This list will be used to learn more about the citational practices of TC
as it relates to MMU scholarship. The results of this survey (a listing of
the names, institutions, and publication information of MMU scholars in TC
and related fields) will be used for research purposes and will be made
public in order to help future researchers. Please note that individual
identity markers, such as gender, LGBTQIA2+ identity, disabled identity,
racial/ethnic identity, or other marginalizing identity markers
participants disclose will not be made public in this listing.

Your participation in this research is completely voluntary. Please provide
information about only yourself, though please feel free to share this link
with other scholars. If you agree to participate now and change your mind
later, you may withdraw at any time, including after we have already
collected information from you, by contacting Cana Uluak Itchuaqiyaq by
email at cana.itchuaqiyaq at gmail.com or Dr. Rebecca Walton by email at
rebecca.walton at usu.edu.
