*JOB POSTING*


The Department of English at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites
applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track teaching faculty
member (Assistant Professor in Residence) to serve as Assistant Director of
Composition. The position will start in July 2020. The successful applicant
will join a growing Composition Program that serves approximately 9,000
students a year at the most diverse institution in the U.S. The Assistant
Director of Composition will collaborate with other administrators on
program curriculum, personnel management, professional development,
assessment, program research initiatives, and program operations. The
Assistant Director will teach one composition course a semester and assist
with the writing pedagogy and practicum course for new graduate teaching
assistants every fall.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. by June 30, 2020, in Rhetoric and
Composition, Technical or Professional Communication, English or other
related fields from an accredited college or university. Applicants should
have experience teaching multiple first-year writing courses; evidence of
teaching excellence in first-year writing courses is required. Experience
or training in teaching basic writing, ESL/ELL, service-learning, or online
writing classes is preferred. Previous writing program administration
experience is preferred. The successful applicant will also demonstrate
interest in continued professional development and research related to
writing studies and writing program administration. Career advancement is
available with evidence of continued professional development.
