Dear ATTW Colleagues,

I’m am pleased to announce that my department just received approval to hire an affiliate faculty in business communication. Please circulate the following job ad to anyone you know who might be interested.


Affiliate Faculty of Writing. The Department of Writing at Grand Valley State University seeks to fill a full-time (9-month), non-tenure track Affiliate Faculty position beginning August 6, 2020. No scholarship expectations or service obligations. A Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Technical or Professional Communication, English (or related field) or ABD status is required by time of employment. Candidates need to have expertise and experience teaching business communication in both traditional classrooms and online environments. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience teaching courses in intercultural and global communication, working with adult learners, and a history of online teaching. The teaching load is four courses per semester.



The position is not tenure-track. Individuals will be appointed for one academic year on a full-time basis. This may be renewed once for an additional academic year. Thereafter, such individuals may be appointed for three (3) consecutive academic years. The ideal candidates will focus their careers on teaching business communication and on continuously developing their professional expertise as writing teachers. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications (includes health and retirement benefits).
