Lecturer, Rhetoric, Professional Writing, and Digital Media Studies, NAU English Department:

The Rhetoric and Professional Writing Programs in the English Department at Northern Arizona University are pleased to invite applications for the position of lecturer in professional writing and rhetoric. The position has an anticipated start date of Fall 2021. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track, benefit eligible position with a 4/4 teaching load. Responsibilities for this position include teaching English 302W and English 305W. English 305W is an interdisciplinary writing-intensive course, and English 302W is a writing-intensive course in technical communication. Additional professional development and service expectations will be determined in consultation with the Chair of English. This position is renewable dependent on program needs, available funding, and effective performance.

Minimum qualifications:

  *   M.A. in English with specialization in Technical Writing, Professional Writing, Rhetoric, Composition, or Writing Studies or closely related field in hand by August 15, 2021
  *   1 year experience teaching undergraduate technical writing courses and/or writing in the disciplines courses

Preferred qualifications:

  *   PhD in English with specialization in Technical Writing, Professional Writing, Rhetoric, Composition, or Writing Studies in hand by August 15, 2021.
  *   Evidence of demonstrated commitment and successful interactions with people with diverse learning abilities, people from diverse cultural, ethnic, racial, language, or national backgrounds, and the LGBTQ+ communities.
  *   Evidence of one or more years of experience writing in the workplace (grants, proposals, procedures, policies, program documentation, product documentation, corporate communication, management communication, customer communication, journalism, extensive workplace email communication, newsletters, marketing writing, etc.)
  *   Evidence of two or more years of successfully teaching undergraduate technical writing courses and/or writing in the disciplines courses in in-person and online venues.
  *   Expertise in rhetoric, professional writing, composition, and/or writing pedagogy and theory.
