Dear Colleagues,

We have extended the deadline for our job search. This is a great job at a
great university. We are looking for candidates who love to teach and want
to build a career in our program. We are also considering people with
STEM/engineering/medical backgrounds who are strong writers. I'm happy to
address any candidate questions at julie.reiser at jhu.edu.

JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY
Professional Communication Program in The Center for Leadership Education
Full-Time Lecturer in Professional Communication

The Johns Hopkins University seeks highly qualified candidates for a
full-time, teaching track faculty position in The Professional
Communication Program (PCP) within The Center for Leadership Education
(CLE). This position offers a renewable, fully-benefitted, one-year
contract that becomes eligible for promotion and a longer term of contract
after a probationary period. Salary is very competitive and commensurate
with experience. Candidates will teach three courses each semester (fall
and spring) with small enrollments caps. While the candidate’s teaching
load will be focused on the undergraduate curriculum, there are
opportunities to teach at the graduate level. Funding for professional
development is available.

The Professional Communication Program is housed in The Center for
Leadership Education, a vibrant, interdisciplinary center in the Whiting
School of Engineering. The CLE offers a broad range of undergraduate- and
graduate-level curricula—in professional communication, leadership,
accounting/finance, entrepreneurship, and professional development—and
utilizes experience-based, active learning techniques in all of its
courses. For more information about the PCP, please visit us online at:

The PCP seeks candidates who are comfortable working in an
interdisciplinary environment but who are primarily qualified in writing
and communication. All candidates must be student-centered teachers with a
strong record of success in the classroom. Successful candidates will have
expertise and be able to teach in two or more of the following areas:

   -

   professional writing and communication
   -

   scientific/technical/medical communication
   -

   ESL/ELL
   -

   public speaking and oral communication
   -

   writing center administration
   -

   storytelling with data
   -

   data/information visualization

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in English, Rhetorical Composition,
Communication or closely related field. Candidates with advanced degrees in
STEM/medicine who are also strong writers are encouraged to apply.
Candidates with an MFA or MA will be considered if they also bring
substantial professional experience. Johns Hopkins is committed to building
a diverse educational environment; women and minorities are strongly
encouraged to apply. Johns Hopkins is an EEO/AA employer.
