Last call for anyone interesting in submitting to and/or reviewing for sponsored programming at NCA 2021, which will be held in November. The relevant deadlines are:

Hello ATTW!

I'm writing on behalf of the Association for Rhetoric of Science, Technology, and Medicine (of which I am the current President) to invite your submissions to ARSTM programming at the National Communication Association.

It is an odd thing right now to be inviting academic work, as racial injustices, a pandemic, and environmental disasters are part of the everyday, preventing many--often already minoritized folks--from being able to pretend like things are normal. All of that is to say, nothing is normal, and as an academic soliciting work from other academics, I want to acknowledge that and also offer my support if you would like to talk through sustainable and manageable ways for you to submit and participate in ARSTM events.

At NCA every year, ARSTM hosts sponsored sessions on the official program, so I'm sharing here the ARSTM at NCA 2021 call for proposals.(Information about the ARSTM at NCA preconference--a one-day event separate from the sponsored programming, which is scheduled as part of NCA's main offerings--is forthcoming from ARSTM 1st Vice President Dr. Kenny Walker.)

Call for Proposals
I've attached here this year's call for proposals for ARSTM at NCA sponsored programming. It echoes this year's NCA theme, then provides specific details about what kinds of proposals we are soliciting. I especially encourage students to submit full papers, as that will qualify them to be considered for the Joanna Ploeger Memorial Award for best student paper. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, March 31st

I invite you all to apply, but most importantly, please do or continue doing whatever you need at this moment to protect and care for yourself, your loved ones, and your larger communities. I do not expect anyone to prioritize these deadlines over those far more important goals. If you have questions or concerns or ideas about how to be part of ARSTM and NCA without neglecting our obligations to each other's wellbeing, please don't hesitate to email me.
