Job Title: Visiting Clinical Instructor
Job Summary
The Professional Writing Program in the Department of English at Purdue University invites applications for a Visiting Clinical Instructor in Professional Writing. This is a one year full-time, Academic Year (9 month) position as a Visiting Clinical Instructor beginning in August 2022. The position can be renewed for up to one additional year, contingent upon funding and performance.
The position of Visiting Clinical Instructor for the Professional Writing Program includes the following duties:

1. Teach four sections each semester in the Professional Writing program. The primary teaching assignment would be ENGL 420 (Business Writing) or 421 (Technical Writing); other courses and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
2. Hold all assigned classes in accord with the university academic calendar.
3. Hold three office hours each week for undergraduates enrolled in courses taught.
4. Develop appropriate course syllabi for assigned classes and report final grades for students in a timely fashion in accord with university policy.
5. Show willingness to be flexible in course assignments and teaching times according to program needs.
6. Abide by all course policies for any course taught as given by the program director for the given course.
7. Attend training and meetings as required by the course supervisor for a given course.
Qualifications
Required: MA in Professional & Technical Writing or a related discipline; experience teaching undergraduate classes in Professional & Technical Writing; evidence of teaching effectiveness; strong organizational skills; willingness to be flexible on specific teaching schedules according to the needs of the Professional Writing program.
Preferred: PhD in Professional & Technical Writing; experience teaching online; significant non-academic workplace experience.
