English department to direct our first-year composition program. You can apply
here <https://apply.interfolio.com/115234> if you're interested, and I'm
also going to save you the trouble of a click and paste the job ad below
:). Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Description
Advanced Assistant/Associate Professor in English, Director of First-Year
Composition

Clemson University's English Department seeks an outstanding scholar and
teacher at either the advanced assistant or associate professor rank to
direct the first-year composition program. The successful candidate will
also collaborate with current faculty to enhance well-established
curricular and institutional programs. The English department has a robust
undergraduate major, a significant role in Clemson University’s core
curriculum, and involvement in multiple graduate programs.

Clemson is an R-1 land grant institution located in upstate South
Carolina—a global university with a mission to serve the diverse
communities of our state. In 2016 Clemson inaugurated a strategic plan to
strengthen its research profile, diversity, and workplace quality of life.
The English department has taken a leading role in pursuing these goals by
confronting legacies of violence and nurturing traditions of political and
intellectual organizing on our campus. Consequently, the search committee
is especially interested to hear from candidates who approach first-year
composition from a socially engaged perspective and who are prepared to
guide instructors in the responsible inclusion of diverse perspectives in
their classrooms.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in English, rhetoric, composition,
or a related field, have an active research agenda (we are open to various
specializations), and be committed to diversity and inclusion in their
teaching and service work. The candidate should also have administrative
experience in a writing program or writing center. In addition, the
candidate should be open to different models of teaching first-year
composition that allow faculty to use different texts, including literary
texts, to achieve the learning objectives of the English department’s
first-year composition course. The typical teaching load for tenured and
tenure-track faculty is two courses per semester; however, the Director of
First-Year Composition typically gets one course release per academic year
while serving in the director role. The successful candidate will
transition to a 2-2 teaching load when their term as director ends.

Application Instructions
For priority consideration, applications should be received by November 1.
To apply for this position, please submit a CV, writing sample, and a cover
letter describing your experience with writing program administration,
research agenda, commitment to equity and diversity, and teaching
experience. Please submit your documents via Interfolio:
