Job Description

The Department of English at The University of Texas at El Paso invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor of rhetoric and writing studies (RWS) to begin Fall 2023. Preferred areas of expertise include rhetoric, law, and culture with priority given to applicants with experience in legal humanities and cultural studies (including African-American, Latinx, Asian, and Indigenous foci), social justice approaches to research and teaching, and anti-racist pedagogy. We seek a colleague who will work with the intellectual interests of our burgeoning population of international students in the RWS PhD program and build on the department's traditional strengths in borderlands rhetoric, literature, and English Education. The successful candidate will teach RWS courses associated with the Law School Preparation Institute and UTEP's legal reasoning minor.

Required Qualifications: PhD in Rhetoric, English, Comparative Literature, or related field by August 31, 2023.
