mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-latin">The <b>PhD in TCR</b> is designed for students with an interest in technical communication, rhetoric, writing, and composition. The aims of
study are broad knowledge of the literature on technical communication and rhetoric, specialized knowledge of some aspect of technical communication or rhetoric as reflected in the dissertation research, and ability to conduct ongoing independent research
using one or more methods. Our faculty are well-known for their Social Justice and Activist Rhetoric scholarship, User Centered Design and Research expertise, and concentration in Research methods and tools. The PhD is available both onsite and online. Accepted
doctoral applicants to the onsite program are offered a Graduate Part Time Instructorship (GPTI), which includes a $20,000 salary for four years. Summer teaching is also available for an additional stipend as are multiple opportunities for scholarships, grants,
and fellowships through the department and college. </span></p>

mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-latin">The <b>MA in Technical Communication</b> (MATC) prepares you for workplace success. Specific aims of study include knowledge of the history,
theory, research, genres, principles, techniques, and practices of technical communication. The MATC qualifies you for project management, UX research, UCD, writing, and editing in a variety of industries. The MATC will also prepare you for teaching in community
colleges or for further graduate study. Our Usability Lab is the only one in the country that has produced specialized patents in the area of eye tracking hardware. Our Media Lab provides a dedicated space for skills-based workshops and equipment for students.
