Dear Colleagues,

In spring 2024, Mike Palmquist will retire from a 34-year career at
Colorado State University (CSU). For more than 25 of those years, he has
served as the founding publisher and editor of the WAC Clearinghouse, a
position he plans to hold for the foreseeable future. Mike has received
many well-deserved awards and distinctions during his career. He was named
University Distinguished Teaching Scholar at CSU, and he is a Distinguished
Fellow of the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum. He was also
awarded the Charles Moran Award for Distinguished Contributions to the
Field by Computers and Composition, among other accolades.

Coeditors Ann Blakeslee, Heather M. Falconer, and Karen P. Peirce invite
proposals for an edited collection to honor Mike’s many contributions to
the field of writing studies. Throughout his career, Mike has published
widely in a number of areas, most notably open-access publishing, writing
across the curriculum (WAC), computers and composition, and the status and
working conditions of faculty in contingent positions. His work in these
areas has resulted in significant innovations in our field’s approaches to
publishing and disseminating work on writing, along with new ways of
thinking about and teaching writing. We invite submissions that address how
Mike's scholarly contributions in these areas and his vision and leadership
of the Clearinghouse have influenced and shaped the field of writing
studies. We also invite future-focused contributions, addressing trends
and/or likely future issues in any of these areas.

Please see the full call for proposals for more details at
https://tinyurl.com/2jtukyys. Questions may be directed to Ann Blakeslee (
ablakesle at emich.edu), Heather M. Falconer (heather.falconer at main.edu), or
Karen P. Peirce (kppeirce at gmail.com); please include “Palmquist Collection”
in the subject line.

On behalf of my coeditors Karen P. Pierce and Heather M. Falconer,

Ann Blakeslee
