Greetings! Please join WPA-GO for a speaker event with Dr. Lucía Durá. The virtual event, “Considering Power Over, With, and To in Equity Conversations” is hosted by WPA-GO's Diversity Committee. Please see the details for the event below:

Speaker Bio: Dr. Lucía Durá is an Associate Professor of Rhetoric and Writing Studies in the English Department and Associate Dean of the Graduate School at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). In her research, Lucía focuses on understanding and leveraging community assets to solve complex problems. She facilitates productive dialogues about risk to design sustainable social and organizational change. Lucía also conducts action research in higher education, particularly using asset-based approaches in graduate education. Her recent publications include a book chapter on The use of improv as a pedagogical tool (2023), a paper on The use of art-based methods with a precarious population (2023), and an article on The preparation of science education teachers on the U.S.-Mexico border (2023).
