I teach Technical Editing at the University of Utah using Cunningham et al. Technical Editing and The Copyeditor’s Handbook. As others have mentioned, Technical Editing is a serviceable but expensive text. I have been able to reduce the cost by about half through our campus’s inclusive access program, but I also think it’s a more robust book than is strictly needed for an undergraduate course. I would love to support/contribute to OER offerings in technical editing. There’s clearly interest and demand!

I reached out to Carolyn Rude about two years ago about that topic. She was so very kind and she offered me lots of materials to use. Being a junior scholar however, and a lecturer, I did not offer assistance on a new edition when I was told that no new editions were being considered nor likely ever would be.
