Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Department of English Language and Literatures
invites applications for an Open Rank Lecturer (Lecturer II or Lecturer
III) appointment to begin August, 2018.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to
diversity through their teaching, research, and service. The standard
teaching load for a Lecturer is 4/4. However, this can be reduced for
administrative, curriculum-development, and/or program-assessment duties.
Teaching will include core-curriculum courses in technical/professional
writing and first-year composition, and may include teaching of upper-level
undergraduate courses in advanced technical writing or online tutoring. See

The successful candidate will have expertise, interest and experience
commensurate with these duties:

   - teaching online and traditional Core Writing (undergraduate) classes
   in first-year composition, technical/professional writing;
   - helping build and administer the ongoing eComposition and eTechComm
   (eTC) programs by helping develop the program's multimodal curriculum,
   mentoring graduate teaching assistants, and training and mentoring
   instructional assistants (embedded online tutors).

This position is contingent upon final budgetary approval. The University
of New Mexico is an AA/EEO employer and educator.​
Qualifications

*Minimum Qualifications:*

   - MA (for Lecturer II) or PhD (for Lecturer III) or other relevant
   graduate degree in English or a related discipline by August 2018
   - Two years (for Lecturer II) or four years (for Lecturer III) or more
   of post-secondary teaching experience in technical and professional writing
   and/or composition and rhetoric

*Preferred Qualifications:*

   - Experience teaching composition and/or professional-technical writing
   with an approach that emphasizes multimodal literacies
   - Experience designing and teaching online for first-year composition or
   technical-professional writing with digital multimodal instructional tools
   (e.g., screen captured instruction materials, A/V feedback)
   - Demonstrated record of interest or experience in writing program
   administration
   - Experience preparing teachers and/or tutors to teach in online
   environmetns
   - Academic specialization or significant professional experience in
   technical/professional writing or composition and rhetoric
   - A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student
   success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
