Description
The College of Architecture, Arts, and Humanities (CAAH) at Clemson University seeks to fill a tenured position at the rank of Full Professor, beginning August 2019, as Director of the interdisciplinary doctoral program Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design.

We seek candidates who have achieved the rank of Full Professor, but will consider candidates at the rank of Advanced Associate Professor. The candidate must be tenurable by Clemson University in one of the departments participating in the program, as follows:
• Art
• English
• History
• Languages
• Performing Arts
• Philosophy and Religion

Responsibilities

The candidate must be a nationally or internationally known scholar committed to graduate education and graduate students, taking the lead in recruiting, showcasing students’ work, and assisting with students’ successful job placement in academe, non-profit organizations, or industry. The candidate’s current research, publications, and/or public presentations must demonstrate facility and enthusiasm for technological innovations and interdisciplinary research in the arts and/or humanities. The candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to diversity in graduate student selection, faculty hires, curricular development, and program administration. We also expect the candidate to teach one course per term and serve as a mentor for doctoral students who share scholarly interests.

The candidate must demonstrate expertise in the coordination and administration of a doctoral program in an environment of innovative interdisciplinary research, as well as an active, successful research agenda in subjects such as (but not limited to) rhetoric and composition; technical, professional, and/or organizational writing; intercultural, visual, and digital communication in its various forms and manifestations. We seek a candidate interested in the continued success of the current program, yet with a clear vision for the future of the program, including developing new modes of interdisciplinary programming, online and team-teaching, and intellectual engagement with gender, race, accessibility and similar issues in digital environments.

Qualifications
We seek candidates who have achieved the rank of Full Professor, but will consider candidates at the rank of Advanced Associate Professor.

Your letter should outline your experiences in and vision for interdisciplinary research and education, specifically addressing how your research program and teaching experience complement and expand the scope and value of rhetorics, communication, and information design at Clemson; describe how your work can help attract and retain high quality students and faculty, as well as engage broader publics; and provide evidence of a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
