Lecturer, Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies, NAU English Department:


The Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies program in the English Department at Northern Arizona University is pleased to invite applications for the position of lecturer in rhetoric and writing. The position has an anticipated start date of fall 2020. This is a full-time, 9-months, non-tenure track, benefit eligible position with a 4/4 teaching load at the Flagstaff campus. Responsibilities for this position include teaching English 305W, an interdisciplinary writing-intensive course, with a possibility to teach additional undergraduate courses as needed in the Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies program. Additional professional development and service expectations will be determined in consultation with the Chair of English. This position is renewable dependent on program needs, available funding, and effective performance.

Minimum qualifications:

  *   M.A. in Rhetoric, Composition, Writing Studies, or closely related field in hand by August 15, 2020
  *   2 years experience teaching university-level rhetoric and writing courses

 Preferred qualifications:

  1.  PhD in Rhetoric and Composition or related field
  2.  Evidence of demonstrated commitment and successful interactions with people from diverse cultural, ethnic, racial, and national backgrounds
  3.  Evidence of successful teaching of rhetoric and writing at the undergraduate level

  1.  Evidence of teaching undergraduate courses in writing across the curriculum/in the disciplines
  2.  Expertise in rhetoric, composition, and/or writing theory
  3.  Evidence of a research agenda in rhetoric and composition
