Instructor or Assistant Professor of Practice in Business Communication

Position Description


The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship in the University of Louisville’s College of Business seeks qualified applicants for a full-time, teaching-intensive faculty position (non-tenure track) in business communication to begin August 1, 2021. Expected teaching load is 4/4 (24 credit hours per year). Appointment will be at the rank of instructor or assistant professor, dependent upon academic credentials and experience.


The successful candidate will be an effective and innovative teacher responsible for instructing undergraduate business communication courses, with an emphasis on writing skills. There may be opportunities to teach MBA courses in managerial presentations or MSBA courses in data visualization depending upon expertise and interest. The individual will participate in ongoing curriculum development and assessment for the College of Business’s business communication program and may have opportunities to create and deliver executive education programs in relevant area(s) of expertise.


Qualifications

Candidates must possess a master’s degree in business communication, rhetoric and composition, professional communication, or a related field; a Ph.D. in one of the listed areas is required for appointment as assistant professor. Candidates should have previous experience teaching business communication or similar courses at the university level; and have a genuine interest in and knowledge of business as evidenced by professional work history, academic coursework, and/or research. The applicant’s ability to develop and teach online courses will also be a consideration.
