Potential candidates should be currently participating in the technical communication academic and professional communities; have successful editing and publication experience; and have the professional network, vision, enthusiasm, and commitment to meet the obligations and responsibilities of the role.

The successful candidate will have an established research agenda, will have a proven track record developing projects that have contributed to the scholarship of the discipline, will demonstrate their ability to provide constructive feedback in a timely manner, will be attuned to issues of inclusion, will actively pursue projects by marginalized and multiply marginalized scholars, and will possess a progressive vision for the field. Previous experience as a series editor is not required. Preferential consideration will be given to candidates who are current members of ATTW.

The Series Editor shall:

  *   Recruit authors/editors and volumes for the series, with the understanding that the series will include both research-line and practice-line books;
  *   Value diversity, engage in inclusive editorial practices, and actively recruit and support projects from marginalized and multiply marginalized writers;
  *   Work with project authors/editors to develop proposals for projects appropriate in scope, content, and approach for inclusion in the series;
  *   Send proposals for peer review, and use the responses to finalize plans for the volumes with the project authors/editors;
  *   Submit proposal, reviews, and series editor’s recommendation to the publisher, for each project recommended for publication in the series;
  *   Read and edit where necessary the manuscripts submitted by the series volume authors/editors;
  *   Work with the publisher and the authors/editors to identify key markets, audiences, and opportunities for promotion of the volume and/or series;
  * Prepare an annual report to the Executive Board on the progress in developing the series, and attend the Executive Board Meeting after the ATTW conference each spring.

The series typically publishes 2-4 books per year. An editorial board will help the editor vet and review proposals and manuscripts, in coordination with the publisher. The term of the new Series Editor will begin September 1, 2021 and will run for 5 years. The Executive Board will evaluate the editor’s service at the end of the third year.

To apply, interested parties should send the following by June 30, 2021 to Michelle F. Eble (eblem at ecu.edu):

  * Letter of application discussing your vision for the series, and the steps you would take to make the series a venue of first choice for publication in technical and professional communication, and an invaluable resource for the discipline and profession.
  *   CV, and
  * Letter of support from your institution’s administration both for release time and/or graduate student assistance (to be jointly supported by ATTW up to $3000 per year if needed).
