The Center for the Study and Teaching of Writing, housed within the College of Arts and Sciences but serving the entire University, seeks a Writing Center Manager to join our team. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. With 38 departments, 20+ world-class research centers, and more than 2,000 faculty and staff members, students have the unique opportunity to study with the best artists, scholars, and scientists in their field. Established in 1999, the Center for the Study and Teaching of Writing (CSTW) is an interdisciplinary support and research unit. CSTW draws upon The Ohio State University's tradition of leadership in the fields of rhetoric, composition, and literacy. CSTW is an interdisciplinary support and research unit in The Ohio State University's College of Arts and Sciences that is committed to fostering excellence among writers and teachers of writing at The Ohio State University and in the state of Ohio. The Writing Center within CSTW offers free help with writing at any stage of the writing process for any member of the university community.

The Writing Center Manager provides leadership on issues of writing for undergraduate students and acts as the primary administrator of the Writing Centers that are housed in the CSTW. As the primary administrator of the Writing Centers, the Writing Center Manager plans and directs the day-to-day operation of the 3 main and satellite centers, and the online center. They also contribute to the development of other support initiatives for undergraduate writers as determined necessary. The Writing Center Director hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates 45+ undergraduate and graduate writing consultants, as well as assistant coordinators of the Writing Centers; develops training materials, explores new areas of training needs, mentors consultants and assistant coordinators as they develop their consulting and administrative skills; conducts institutional assessment in collaboration with the CSTW Director and other CSTW administrators and provides annual performance and assessment reports to CSTW Director; identifies, develops, and implements programming needs for undergraduate writers in collaboration with CSTW team and serves as the resource person at the University in developing appropriate additional programming, such as workshops, writing groups, retreats, and other programming; teaches one training course class for undergraduate tutors per year; develops and conducts writing center-related research projects in consultation with the CSTW Director and other CSTW administrators; acts as a liaison with the center's Fiscal and HR support staff and other staff members and directs other projects as assigned by CSTW Director.
