Postdoctoral Fellowship in Indigenous Knowledges

The Department of Comparative Studies<https://comparativestudies.osu.edu> at The Ohio State University invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in Indigenous Knowledges. We seek a dynamic, innovative scholar who can demonstrate deep engagement with indigenous knowledge systems as reflected in the languages, lifeways, epistemologies, ethics, healing practices, environmental practices, and/or technologies of one or more groups. In keeping with the department's commitment to public-facing humanities projects, we are looking particularly for an applicant interested in how indigenous knowledges can productively inform larger conversations in the sciences, law, public policy, heritage conversation, commerce, environmental justice movements, and/or social justice movements.

The successful applicant will teach one course each semester for the Department of Comparative Studies, including one section each year of Introduction to American Indian Studies, and participate actively in the intellectual life of the department while pursuing their own research projects. They will find mentors and conversation partners within the Department of Comparative Studies in one or more of the department's key areas of focus-comparative cultural studies, comparative literature, folklore, religious studies, and science and technology studies. They will likewise be embedded in interdisciplinary, cross-departmental networks constellated around, for example, American Indian Studies, the Center for Ethnic Studies, African and African American Studies, Medical Humanities, Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, as appropriate.

This is a two-year appointment, and includes an annual stipend of $55,000 plus benefits, reimbursable relocation expenses up to $2,000, and a $2,000 research fund. This position is made possible by Ohio State's Global Arts + Humanities Discovery Theme<https://globalartsandhumanities.osu.edu>, which supports a vibrant community of interdisciplinary scholars on the Columbus campus through its Postdoctoral Program<https://globalartsandhumanities.osu.edu/hiring/postdocs>.

A complete announcement, details on eligibility, and application instructions are available at https://osu.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/OSUCareers/job/Columbus-Campus/Postdoctoral-Researcher_R8603-1
Review of applications will begin on April 25, 2021. Questions about the position or application procedures may be directed to Melissa Anne-Marie Curley at curley.32 at osu.edu<mailto:curley.32 at osu.edu>.
