*Lecturer of Technical Communication *
Department of Technical Communication & Interactive Design

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for full-time, 
nine-month, non-tenure track faculty positions as Lecturer of Technical 
Communication in the Department of Technical Communication & Interactive 
Design beginning August 2024.

A commitment to excellence in teaching (90%) and service (10%) to the 
university, department, discipline, and/or professional community is 
expected of all non-tenure track faculty.

This appointment includes a typical 5/4 teaching load. Faculty in the 
department are expected to teach in face-to-face modality and may also 
teach hybrid and online courses.

The primary teaching responsibility is TCOM 2010: Technical Writing, the 
introductory-level technical communication course. Other courses may 
include but are not limited to

  * TCID 2002: Productivity Tools and Technologies
  * TCID 2170: Introduction to Digital Media and Culture
  * TCOM 3030: Instructional Design
  * TCOM 3431: Information Design I


Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty 
Credentials Guidelines.

Applicants are expected to have a master's degree, or the foreign 
equivalent, in Technical Communication or a closely related field with 
at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in Technical Communication.

Preferred Qualifications Include

  * Ph.D., or the foreign equivalent, in Technical Communication
  * An academic grounding in Technical Communication
  * Subject-matter knowledge in technical communication genres,
    information design, and instructional design
  * Familiarity with the principles and practices of interactive design
    (UX, UI)
  * Demonstrated skill in teaching technical communication courses to
    potential TCOM majors, students majoring in STEM fields,
    multilingual writers, and students with limited technological literacy
  * Formal training in pedagogical techniques, particularly relating to
    face-to-face teaching in a higher-education setting
  * Experience teaching online and hybrid courses
  * Experience using learning management systems
  * Strong proficiency with both the Adobe Suite and the MS Office suite
  * Industry experience as a technical communicator is highly desirable
