For a timely example of a technical report in letter format, consider the 12-page report (dated January 26, 2024) submitted to Judge Engoron by Independent Monitor Barbara Jones in the New York civil fraud trial People v. Trump, et al., No. 452564/2022.

The report details the Independent Monitor’s duties regarding its financial review of the Trump Organization, assesses compliance, and identifies “certain deficiencies in the financial information . . . including disclosures that are either incomplete, present results inconsistently, and/or contain errors.”

In addition to the salutation and signature typical of a letter, the report uses headings and subheadings, numbered and bulleted lists, and relatively plain language.

The report is available at https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/24388438/barbara-jones-trump-letter.pdf.
