[ATTW-L] Job Announcement: Lecturer in English, Illinois

It’s striking how quickly composition and tech writing hires have moved to
non tenure track. We created such positions at U Delaware when I chaired,
but we also strenuously argued to maintain a balance of TTFAC and NTTFAC.
These look like good teaching positions with very reasonable loads at
Illinois.

At UD, we were AAUP, and the positions we created had salary parity,
sabbaticals, full voting rights, and promotion tracks through full
professor. People hired at UD as non tenure track have moved through the
ranks, have active professional careers, and are key players in department,
university, and national affairs.

I’d be interested in hearing how far the balance has tipped and whether a
full de-tenuring of writing instruction is inevitable.
