Dear Colleagues,

CDQ has published another fantastic article online!

Avery Edenfield's, "Queering consent: Design and sexual consent messaging" is important work that gets at issues of design, ethics, and sexual consent. The success of the #MeToo movement has caused us to reassess what consent looks like. Mainstream consent messaging provides a skewed perspective because it often excludes underrepresented groups (including LGBTQ+, sex workers, and different and nonnormative bodies). This article examines how queered communities approach more inclusive consent information and how it can influence advocacy efforts. You can find the article online here: https://sigdoc.acm.org/cdq/queering-consent-design-and-sexual-consent-messaging/

If you have something that would be a good fit for Communication Design Quarterly, please look over our guidelines at https://sigdoc.acm.org/publication/communication-design-quarterly-review/. Please direct inquiries or submissions to Derek G. Ross at derek.ross at auburn.edu<mailto:derek.ross at auburn.edu>.
