[ATTW-L] Mueller letter to Barr

Robert Mueller’s 3/27/19 letter to William Barr is a timely example for class discussion (or a final exam) on clear communication (see http://cdn.cnn.com/cnn/2019/images/05/01/letter.32719.pdf).

The letter has a lot of positive traits (e.g., note the crisp sentences of paragraph 3), but the opening sentence is 55 words and the purpose of the letter isn’t stated till the second sentence of the second paragraph.

A great question for your students: How would you have revised this letter to make it more persuasive?
