Dear colleagues,

Please share widely:

As part of an assessment project focusing on our Undergraduate Research
Proposal and Thesis Writing classes at Georgia Tech, we are recruiting
readers external to the University System of Georgia to evaluate brief
student artifacts using a rubric. This exercise will take place virtually
on Friday, April 8th.

In the course under assessment, students design their own research
projects, typically as a part of working in a lab. Our Undergraduate
Research writing courses support this work by teaching students to identify
genre expectations in scientific writing and apply their knowledge to
writing in their own fields. Coursework culminates in a proposal
(consisting of an introduction and lit review) after the first course and a
completed thesis (often in IMRAD format) after the second course.

Readers who have taught courses with similar approaches and/or
goals/outcomes would be ideal for this project. Readers will assess between
30 and 45 artifacts and will be compensated $1000.00 for their time. We
anticipate readers will spend approximately 7 hours on this work, including
a norming session and the full assessment exercise.

If you are interested in participating as a reader in our assessment
project, please fill out this form

by Monday, March 7.

If you have any questions about the project, please email Courtney Hoffman
at gatechwcprogram at gmail.com.

Best,
